An Insider View of a Distributed World

I’m a Senior Backend Engineer at Grafana Labs and a core maintainer of Grafana Tempo, working on the infrastructure that makes the internet observable.

I named this site Kagi (the Japanese word for key / 鍵) because I believe that as AI takes over the "boilerplate" of coding, the real value of an engineer lies in finding the keys to reasoning and reliability.

On this blog, I explore the deep technical problems of systems architecture, the ethics of privacy, and engineering philosophy. I work to build great systems, but I live to enjoy the world beyond them.
